Enjoy your journey to rediscover your purpose!
Take a moment to get comfortable….
Take a deep breath….in through the nose and out through the mouth….
Gently closing your eyes….
And enjoying the feeling of your feet on the ground and your body pressing down on the chair.
As you bring your attention to your body, notice how do you feel. Notice how your breath feels.
Imagine your spine being very gently pulled upwards from the crown of your head.
And think of something that makes you smile….
And take another breath…
And open your mind to be aware of all the people that your work serves…Allow yourself to become open, so this awareness can more easily pass through you, like breathing….
Open your mind to all the people you work with, directly or indirectly…
You might like to create a picture in your mind…a patchwork of all these people…or you might have other ways to bring them to your mind.
And notice all the people behind and beyond those individuals…. The teams, the colleagues, and peers, and beyond those…the suppliers, the customers, the investors….
And allow yourself to become even more open…take your awareness even further out….to encompass the products, the buildings, the infrastructure that makes your work possible…..and to add them to your patchwork.
Keep adding to your mental map – in whatever way that works for you…. your unique way of bringing all these different systems, stakeholders, and networks….all the different layers to mind
And then add in further layers of the communities that all those people are part of – their families, their neighbourhoods, their environments. and beyond that the more-than-human world – the ecology that enables life to happen…the air that we breathe, the water, the sun…
And as you build up the layers of this collage…. …. ask yourself the question.
· What is it that they need from me….?
· What is it that they want me to learn about my work and my purpose?
And welcome whatever comes…. It may be a feeling or a thought or an image….
Notice if there is a slight shift in the feeling….or the thought or the image
Stay with whatever comes….
Take a few more deep breaths…
And very gently…come back into your body… feel your feet on the floor…
Open your eyes…
And come back into the space.
